Dworp ( small town in the heart of the Pajottenland region of Flanders, Belgium) is home to the Hanssens family brewery. The family has brewed geuze and kriek here for at least three generations and the naturally occurring microorganisms in the surrounding area allow beer to be brewed without yeast. The process creates a sour tasting brew called Lambic which is blended with gueze or fruit to create a kriek. Favourite blends include strawberries and cherries. Watch out, the brewery is only open on a Saturday but you can sample the local beers in a number of nearby cafes and bars . One such place is the Guildenhuise cafe which uses the site of a former brewery which specialised in gueze production for at least two centuries.
