The Great Smoky Mountains National Park preserves a rich cultural tapestry of southern Appalachain history. The mountains have had a long history spanning thousands of years from the Indians to early European settlement in the 1800's to loggers and conservation groups in the 20th century. The park strives to protect the historic structures, landscapes and artifacts that tell the varied stories of people who once called these mountains home.

Except for one mainland section, Acadia National Park is located on offshore islands along the coast of Maine. Most of the park is located on Mount Desert Island. Arcadia was first owned by the Wabanaki people. In 1604, Samule de Champlain observed a island composed of seven or eight mountains. Colonial Acadia was populated with a certain group of French immigrants who to this day distinguish themselves from the other inhabitants.There are differences in culture and language. The Acadians
even have their own flag. -
Badlands National Park consists of nearly 244,000 acres. The area was designated as a national park in 1978. The Badlands National Park contains the world richest fossil beds that date from 23 to 35 million years old. The climate is unpredictable with temperatures from -40 degrease F to 116 degrees F. Deposition began 75 million years ago when the western interior seaway covered what is now the Great Plains. Over time the mud of the sea floor hardened into shale. When the Rocky Mountains rose the ancient sea retreated .But that is only one part of the long story. Thank you.

Welcome to Yellowstone. I will be your tour guide. Yellowstone is a very important National Park because it is the oldest national park. It covers 2,221,766 acres. Yellowstone was created by a huge volcano that erupted 640,000 years ago. While your here you will enjoy very nice views including the Old faithful geyser and lots of various wildlife. You can also do a lot of activities like fishing, horseback riding, camping, boating, cross country skiing and spring biking. Some of the wildlife you will might see includes grizzly bears, wolves, elk, bison, moose and bong horn. Now let me tell you about Old faithful. It is the oldest geyser in the world. It erupts every 5 minutes and was named in 1870 by Washburn Langford Doane.

The Grand Canyon is in Arizona. The Grand Canyon encompasses 1,218,375 acres and lies on the Colorado plateau, in north western Arizona. There are lots of waterfalls and lots of cool animals. Summer days are a few degrees cooler than other places because of higher elevation. The highest temperature was 105 degrees F. Winter at the Grand Canyon is very harsh. There is lots of snow which equals lots of road blocks and less visitors. The animals must have it hard! The Grand Canyon boasts some of the nation cleanest air. But stay on your toes and be prepared for a variety of weather conditions. Nearly 5,000,000 people travel to the Grand Canyon each year.

Welcome to Yosemite National Park. You will have a great time here. We have giant Sequoias, deep valleys and grand meadows. We have at least 3.3 million visitors a year with 90% of them going to Yosemite valley. Yosemite is located on the eastern border of California. Yosemite was established on October 1,1890. It's size is 761,267 acres which is about the size of Rhode Island. Did you know that towering over Yosemite Valley is EL Capitan. It towers 350 stories above it. The wildlife in Yosemite is varied. You might see deer, chipmunks, marmots, and squirrels.

Welcome to Grand Teton National Park!! The park is home to many animals such as bears, birds, wolves, and many elk! The peaks of the Tetons stand at nearly 7,000 feet
(2135 meters). It was established at a national park on February 26th, 1929. It is located in Wyoming in Teton County. It has over 309,994 acres. Grand Teton National park was established twice. The first time it was established was to protect the animals.The Grand Teton National Park does not only offer beauty; but it also offers many streams and rivers as well. -
Welcome to Bryce Canyon. Bryce canyon is the smallest of Utah’s National Parks. At 35,835 acres, it’s mostly rocks and 'hoodoos’. Hoodoos are twisted rock. The park was established September, 15th, 1928. Bryce Canyon was formed by weathering and erosion.The park was named after Dr. Bryce Seussian.This park is made up of towering spires, fins, arches, and mazes and brilliant landforms.

Welcome to the Rockies!! No not the baseball team!! The national park!! The Rocky mountain national park holds many treasures like animals, plants, water life, camping and hiking. The Rocky Mountain National Park became the 9th national park in 1803. The Rockie Mountains holds 358.3 square miles of land. You can do a wide variety of activities while visiting the Rockies. The Rocky Mountain National Park has beautiful views!! The Rocky Mountains look like they are 100 feet tall but some are actually not that tall. Be sure and visit the Rocky Mountain National Park!

Glacier National Park is in northwestern Montana. It is named after it’s dozens of glaciers. The park was founded in 1910 with over 1,000,000 acres. The park consists of over 130 named lakes, about 2,300 combined species of plants, birds, and mammals and mountains, valleys and about 700 miles of trails. Glacier Park has around 7,000 feet in differences between the lowest and highest point. Glacier Park is part of two different mountain ranges. Glacier Park could be considered the head water of the continent- mostly from snow melt.

Denali National Park has hotels and other places to live. The park is almost ½ the size of Rhode island. It has fantastic glacier valleys. It is in Alaska. Many animals live there. It has warm ocean water. The temperature is normally in the 60's. It is the most visited park in Alaska. The park has 7,329.2 square miles. In Denali there are many different species of animals. There are 167 species of birds and over 10 different species of fish! Hunting is allowed in designated areas!
