The United States has 58 National Parks. The first being Yellowstone established in 1872 by Ulysses S. Grant and the most recent being Great Sand Dunes National Park established in 2004 by George W. Bush. The largest National Park in the world is Wrangell-St. Elias at over 8,900,000 acres. The total area covered by the National Parks system is 51,900,000 acres.
